National GWP Rescue

Hundreds of GWPs enter rescues every year. The way to cut down on these numbers is to educate yourself and other about this amazing breed and purchase from ethical breeders.

Orthopedic Foundation of America

Orthopedic Foundation of America (OFA)

All dog breeds have suggested health tests that breeding stock are suggested to pass prior to breeding. With the GWP the recommended tests are:

  • Hips
  • Elbows
  • Cardiac
  • Eyes
  • Thyroid

Antech PENNhip

PennHIP

Antech PennHIP testing provides an estimate of the risk for painful osteoarthritis (OA) of canine hip dysplasia (CHD) later in life. With this information, the PennHIP-trained veterinarian can recommend preventive and palliative strategies. The test is accurate in dogs as young as 16 weeks of age.

North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association

North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA)

NAVHDA is an organization made up of volunteers who help one another with training pointing dogs. There are chapters in every state with 3 chapters in MN.
